Introducing STRUT Launchport Luxury iPad Cases With Wireless Charging Pedestals.

STRUT, the world leader in automotive fashion products, has teamed with its sister company Launchport, the leader in iPad wireless charging systems, to create the STRUT Launchport.

The newly established STRUT LaunchPort line includes iPad protective cases in designer and custom finishes (all shown in this post). These hand-crafted cases turn iPads into distinctive, personal luxury style statements.

The Cases
The elegant new iPad cases mate with wireless pedestals that charge the iPad whenever it is docked. True to STRUT’s luxury automotive heritage, the charging pedestals are hand-crafted from jewelry grade stainless steel and are triple chrome-plated.

Blending customization and technological innovation, the new cases attach to the pedestal using strong neodymium magnets that provide a secure mounting solution, even if accidentally bumped or knocked. The LaunchPort inductive charging system begins charging the iPad as soon as the sleeve is docked, eliminating the need for external cables.

The Five Standard Case Options

Black Carbon Fiber and White Pearl Carbon Fiber:

Each STRUT LaunchPort iPad case is precisely and skillfully crafted. The exquisite walnut burl, carbon fiber and leopard print finishes are the result of an elaborate, multi-step finishing process that produces a beautifully detailed appearance. A gloss or silk-touch finish is then applied over the base and handpolished.

Silk Touch Leopard Print and Glossy Burled Walnut:

Sparkle Pink:

The Seven Special-order Finishes

Blue Carbon Fiber and Supercar Sparkle Red:

Tangerine and Mint:

Antiqued Bronze and Rose Gold finishes:

Milled Titanium finish:

The special-order finishes require six to eight weeks for delivery.

The Pedestals
Each of the three STRUT LaunchPort is individually crafted from hand-welded, hand-polished, jewelry-grade stainless steel. Using a small-batch, triple-layer process, the sphere and base are then chromed and buffed to produce an exceptionally durable, beautiful and timeless luster.

The Matte Black and Gloss White spheres are powder-coated and baked in a kiln, resulting in a finish with classic beauty that will endure for years to come.

“This is a truly innovative accessory that blends a practical and convenient iPad charging technology with the timeless quality and elegant finishes of a luxury product,” explains James Peterson, STRUT LaunchPort Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Through the design and development of our luxury automotive grilles, wheels and accessories, we’ve gained a thorough understanding of what the luxury consumer desires. These new iPad products precisely address that demand.”

The Technology
Based on the revolutionary LaunchPort™ inductive charging technology, the STRUT LaunchPort system provides a convenient, wireless means to charge and use your iPad®.

The inductive charging circuitry transfers power from the elegant pedestal to the stylish case, charging your iPad without the need for cumbersome wires and connectors. Simply placing the iPad case on the pedestal automatically begins the charging process.

Powerful neodymium magnets secure the case to the pedestal. The spherical base rotates, tilts, and pivots to any desired angle. The iPad case utilizes an audio waveguide system to route sound from the rear-facing iPad speaker forward, producing greater volume and increasing clarity over a stand-alone iPad.

The case is easily removed for travel or remote iPad usage and a mini-USB cable is included with the system to allow easy charging of your iPad separate from the base station.

The Price and Details

The STRUT LaunchPort system, which will initially feature five standard and seven custom order case finish options as well as three pedestal finishes, will be offered at $1,250 for a complete system, which includes a pedestal, case and accessories.

Cases and pedestals can be purchased separately to create a multitude of mix-and-match combinations. The STRUT LaunchPort system is scheduled to become available for purchase in mid-September, in anticipation of the upcoming gift giving season.

A wall-mounted port (shown above) is also available using the same beautiful STRUT LaunchPort Case that pairs with the base station. The WallStation uses inductive charging and magnetic mounting technologies, ensuring that your iPad is secure and wirelessly charging.

The STRUT LaunchPort Case rotates 360 degrees in the WallStation, transforming your wall into an information center, photo gallery, video conferencing center, and anything else you can imagine.

Fly Underwater With Subwing: A New Carbon Fiber Watersport Product From Norway.

Subwing is a new water sport product invented in the summer of 2010 by Simon Sivertsen. It allows you to fly through the water, much like a dolphin. The Carbon Fiber 'wings' allow you to glide, turn and twist as much as you'd like at the water's surface or ocean's bottom, while being pulled by a boat.

Simon and his team have worked to perfect the Subwing’s performance, feeling, and design - and with multiple patents pending, have finally launched the product.

The Inspiration:
It all started when Simon went on a trip in the Mediterranean sea with his family’s sailboat. Some driftwood came floating by and gave Simon an idea. With a pen and paper, he started to flirt with the idea of attaching rope to the driftwood, imagining that being pulled through the water from behind the boat might be fun.

The next time they went ashore, Simon searched for some appropriate driftwood and collected the best pieces. Once home, he tried the new invention. The idea was OK, but something was missing.

He began to think about how it could be done better. At a shopping center in Italy, he bought two cutting boards, a garden hose and a couple of Gardena-links. This inspired the idea of hanging two wings together, which gave completely different control.

To develop the underwater wing he called 'Subwing', he took time off from the university for one year. At home in Kristiansand, he tested the product in the winter ice-cold seawater.

For awhile he had to tape his wet-suit hood with duct tape so that he could test the new prototypes. He got right down to designing and drawing a new shape for the wings, and started looking for more appropriate materials. After a year of working with design and finding the right materials, the wings have been perfected.

Simon is now ready to share his invention with the world. And hopes people will have as much fun and enjoyment as he and his friends get from it.

The Subwing gives you the opportunity to explore the sea in a way as never before, choosing your own pace and gliding directly above the ocean sand floor. You can do thrilling twists and turns, or simply cruise along the surface.

The movement of the SUBWING can be easily controlled by tilting the wings in different directions. You can easily achieve dives (up and down), sideways movement or spins.

The Subwing is attached to a boat with a recommended rope length of about 15 meters. The speed of the boat should be about 2 knots. If you use a longer rope, it's easier to achieve deeper dives.

The only additional equipment needed is a diving mask. If desired, snorkel and fins can be used, but this is not necessary.

If you want to equalize the pressure in your ears, the rear triangle rubber grip is designed for controlling the SUBWING by one hand. Note that reasonable amount experience with the SUBWING is needed before attempting to use the triangle grip.

Subwing is produced with high quality materials to achieve the right stiffness in combination with a lightweight and durable structure. It is constructed of carbon fiber, using advanced and innovative production methods.

SUBWING is designed for underwater sports activity and is patent-pending.

• The Center swivel is made of a combination of rubber and stainless steel.
• The ropes that is attached to Subwing is made of Dyneema fibers, considered the world’s strongest fiber used in ropes.
• The ropes are permanently glued into the stainless steel fastenings in the wings with waterproof epoxy.

above: Graphics on the Subwing are as shown in the above picture.

Subwing consists of the following parts:
- Two carbon fiber wings with rubber pads for perfect grip.
- One detachable center swivel.
- One attached rear rubber triangle.
- Ropes attached to the wings. (You still need a rope to the boat)

Note:
NEVER use any type of compressed air when diving with SUBWING.
Always read the manual before use.
The wings are handmade and there may be slight cosmetic differences for each wing.

above: Studioastic.com of Austria was hired to create this product visualization featuring Corcel's N°1

Corpo Celeste – a heavenly body
The first product to be introduced by Salzburg's innovation and design company, Corcel, is a luxury tub made of carbon fiber. From a material for purely functional applications, to one used in the luxury design of baths, carbon has found its way from space travel and motor racing to Corcel.

The bath manufacturer Corcel is distinguished by high-tech methods in conjunction with solidly hand-crafted products. Only top quality fabrics are used in the manufacturing of designer products.

Using elaborate CAD/CAM and autoclave technology and meticulous craftsmanship, the fine carbon fabric is processed into sumptuous designer furniture for the bathroom.

The No.1 is the first product from Corcel – an object of desire offering clean lines, generous space and distinctive character. It was selected from among 24 concepts submitted by artists and designers. The development process took about seven months and is manufactured from a selected prepreg carbon fabric.

After curing in an autoclave, it is given a last polish in the meticulous hands of our craftsmen. It is finished with a surface coating that otherwise is found only in the high-end sector of luxury cars.

Thanks to the materials’ properties, the No. 1 benefits from improved heat-retention features, compared with acrylic baths and ceramics.

Facts about the tub:
• The N°1 of 2011 is with 51 pieces strictly limited.
• A carbon fibre has a diameter of around 3-5 thousandths of a millimetre.
• Corcel uses only the highest quality fabrics in the production of design products.
• The N°1 is 2,43m long, 1,23m wide und 0,64m tall.
• The N°1 has 330 litres capacity.
• The development time of the N°1 lasted 7 months.

Limited edition
The product is redesigned annually. And each year, only 51 individual pieces are produced worldwide. Each one carries a certificate and is identified as an original. Due to the complex processes involved in the production, the lead time to delivery can be six weeks.

Towards the end of 2011, the company is expecting to launch a comprehensive line with all the necessary fixtures and furnishings for a luxurious bathroom.
